this is a test scene from the animation I am working on. working intuitively, i thought it would be interesting to shoot a scene where the character is on tinder on a phone made from the same material as the person, whether i ended up using it or not. this bruisey-veiny-brain-coloured fleshy set (digital colour correction not shown here) is meant to imply psychic space, where the mise en scene are all part of the innerworkings of the mind. here, the character is swiping on tinder past profiles that are indistinguishable from the body pictured (profiles not shown), which could be a moment of self-profile-stalking. i concluded after filming this scene that it complicates the narrative i am working with (mother/child/body/self/mortality/flesh dynamics) by bringing in ideas of social media, technology, and hybridity. this might be a sketch for a future project where i look closely at these ideas.
